Henri Gonzo & Papírsárkányok

Henri Gonzo & Papírsárkányok began to take shape in the mind of the Cuban-Hungarian singer-songwriter Henri Gonzo towards the end of the pandemic. At the time, Henri had just finished a Fonogram Award-winning album and a London studio session with his other band, Fran Palermo, which was followed by a long, concert-less summer, then autumn, and finally winter.

During the uncertainty brought by the pandemic, he felt it was the right moment to try something new—something he previously hadn't had time for. This became what is now a very active, literature-infused, classically inspired Hungarian-singing alternative project. The first to join were Zazie Farkas and Issiaga Camara.

In 2021, they rented an apartment in the Buda Castle district for a few weeks, where Henri introduced his first demos. Soon, several musicians from the Liszt Academy of Music and some close friends joined the band.

Their first EP was released in 2022 on a limited-edition cassette, followed by their debut full-length album in 2023. The album was listed among the Albums of the Year by both We Love Budapest and Telex. The album's release concert sold out at Trafó, followed shortly by a full-house performance at the MÜPA. They have since been featured at major cultural festivals such as Margó and Kolorádó, performing at numerous music and literary events.

The band released their second full lenght LP, called Vízszemű Gyík in the fall of 2025.
